Martim Moniz and Intendente neighborhoods in Lisbon have open-air hard drugs use
Especially the area around Martim Moniz and Intendente starts to feel more and more insecure. Overload of eastern immigrants shooting drugs in public places.
Plus wtf is up with all the minimarkets? Why is there 5 on every street? There is clearly something going on behind the scenes allowing people to get easy work contracts through these stores to enter the country.

Unfortunately God didn't give everyone equal opportunities in terms of where they were born, if they were born to educated parents with access, normal mental health and so on — try stepping into these people who are in Martim moniz lives and try to live it — i bet you'll get off your high horse. Unfortunately entire city, country cant be like Avenida Liberdade. The working class people need neighborhoods cause all can't live in remote parts of Lisbon and commute 3 hrs to work.

Using that reality to justify or excuse open drug abuse, criminal behavior, or the degradation of public spaces is counterproductive and dangerous.
Recognizing that tolerating destructive behavior under the guise of compassion only hurts the very communities you're trying to defend. Allowing a neighborhood to spiral into chaos isn’t a form of social justice, it’s neglect.
We should absolutely invest more in mental health care, addiction services, education, and housing, no one’s arguing against that. But pretending that it's acceptable for parts of a city to become unsafe and lawless while excusing it as the inevitable result of inequality is a bad take. It's not about turning every street into Avenida da Liberdade. It’s about upholding a baseline of public safety, dignity, and order for everyone, regardless of where they live.
If we accept disorder and criminality as normal for Martim Moniz, or any other problematic area of Lisbon, youre not fighting inequality, you’re reinforcing it.
