Landlords raising prices above legal limit

I rented an apartment for half a year and when I moved out the landlord raised the rent by 71.4% (from 700 to 1200).

Landlords, as far as I know, are only allowed to raise based on inflation (?). Its wild how they get away with increasing prices like this it does not benefit anyone expect the landlord.

No that's only within the same contract. If you change tenants you can raise them to any price you'd like to.
