Portuguese drive like crazy people
The moment they enter a car it’s like every Portuguese becomes a different person.
They act like idiots on the road. Super aggressive driving, fast lane changes, swirving, pointing and yelling at each other.
And it’s not just me noticing it, Portugal now has the highest traffic deaths in Europe!

In my 6 months living here and driving for 3, the new rules I’ve learnt are:
Red light is a recommendation
Cars have priority on pedestrian crossings
Motorbikes may take you over from either side, no matter which lane
Signal is a communication device to be used liberally
Parking is where ever you need it to be (including middle of the road, even if it’s 1 lane only)
Bike lanes are for parking
Signaling turns / line changes is completely optional
People in the middle of the road is expected
If you’re ‘wronged’ in some way, you better make that asshole know about that even if it will cause an accident
One way road is not a one way road if it’s less than 50 meters long
